Ladies Mystery Trip 4th April 2009
« on: 04 April, 2009, 09:45:40 PM »
By 9am all contenders for "The Ladies Mystery Trip" were gathered at the Maida Vale Primary School carpark and champing at the bit. After the usual introductions all round The Beachbums let everyone know what they were up for by handing out a shopping list to be filled at the Kalamunda Markets which was our destination for the day.

The shopping list was made up of the following items,

* Something Small
* Something Green
* A vegetable or a piece of fruit with a face on it
* Chocolate MMMMMM
* A brochure for the ZIZAG
* The biggest thing you can buy for $2.50
* Something Metal
* A Pair
* Something Round
* The cheapest thing you can buy

So after a quick circuit of town we found parking spots, and the shopping was on in earnest. A lot of time was spent ducking and diving around the 200 stalls at the markets trying to keep our bargain puchases hidden from prying eyes. With a deadline of midday the shopping was fast and furious! Come midday we all met at the Kalamunda Hotel for lunch and judging. Bevan had scored us a great spot at a table in the shade. We all got our lunch orders in and it was on with the judging of each category.

There were the inevitable disqualifications for not following the shopping list ( I still think my 3 coathangers class as a "Bakers Pair")!

Here are some pics of the goodies in each category.

* Something Small

Won by Jess with a Microdot!

* Something Green

Won by Jan with the unusual cactus

* A vegetable or a piece of fruit with a face on it

Won by Gwenda with the Banana

* Chocolate MMMMMM

Won by Jess with the Naked Lady

* A brochure for the ZIZAG

Won by Lina for the extra info

* The biggest thing you can buy for $2.50

Won by Jess with the Walt Disney Books

* Something Metal

Won by Jess with her Cow

* A Pair

Won by Julie with the Pair of Lolly Bags.

* Something Round

Won by Julie with the Chicken Squawker

* The cheapest thing you can buy

Won by Jan with the button bought for 5 cents

So, when the scores were tallied up we had ......................

Lina and Gwenda tied for 3rd place taking out 1 category each.

Julie and Jan tied for 2nd place by both scoring in 2 categories.

And, BIG ROUND OF APPLAUSE.........................................................................

 our !!! WINNER-----JESS !!!! Who took out a record 4 categories. Which makes her our "Powershopper of the year 2009"

First prize was awarded on the spot by everyone donating 1 of their purchases to Jess to take home as a souvenier of the day.

( good chance to unload your worst bargain of the day! and now L300 is looking at a biiiig bowl of pumpkin soup )

After the prize presentation the girls decided to go and do a quick powershop for an hour while us guys kept an eye on all the goodies and ordered another round. Eventually we managed to corral all our little shoppers before the plastic went into meltdown and headed back to the cars. After saying all our goodbyes Lina, Jan, Bevan and Wayne dropped into the Paris-Brest for Coffee and Cake.

The WINNERS with swag!

All in all, Another great day out. The girls ahve already planned the next PowerShopping event to be held at Harbourtown, all you girls should mark it down in your diaries and you guys best work a bit of overtime!!

Cheers, Wayne and Jan

I will leave this thread unlocked for day or two so that anyone else with pics can pop them in. If you'd like to have a natter about the day please post over here http://westernpatrolclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=2172.0
