Well after 6 weeks of planning and a last minute disaster the day of the second Mystery Tour finally arrived.

The loot up for grabs. Thanks to Ash at Perth 4x4 and some champion shopping by Maree we had a big haul of prizes for our mystery tourers, big and small.


The mystery tourer's. We ended up with 10 cars including some Provisional members and quite a few kids. There was 6 Patrols, one Subaru, one SAAB, one Pajero and what's left of a Pulsar.



The tourers left East Perth via the Farmer Freeway and were soon hitting streets all over Perth solving those sometimes cryptic clues and solving the brain teasing quizzes.

Taking out the wooden spoon (thanks to a couple of calls for help) were TEAM STIG (aka Vito) on 55 points


Next was Team Gippo (aka Gypsy) on 227.5 points


Next Team L300 on 235 points


Team Wat Saab (aka Snazziest) on 250 points


Team Dazza (aka Mr Dazza) on 255 points


Team Chromie on 310 points


Team Luckybugger on 330 points. Great to see more families getting into the club.


Third was Team Taking the Mickey (aka Mick51 and XLR8) on a gallantly defended 367.5 points


Second was Team Mixed Nutz (aka Chris72GQ and Mrs X) on 405 points


AND THE WINNER
Team  Halo's (aka Beachbums) on an impressive 450 points thanks to an almost perfect Activity Sheet (even though that silly hat was a handicap).


For their efforts Team Halo's scored the Ensuite Dome tent and the much sought after Mystery Tour Trophy.


Following a BBQ we had a few picnic games that involved Newspaper, Toilet Paper, Water bombs, Pool Noodles and a Snatch Strap with the GU boys reigning supreme in the Tug of War (so hard having style, superior intelligence and brute strength isn't guys).

Terrific day - thanks to the Rusty Family Team for all your hard work.  Paul received a last minute 'urgent' PM from me on Weds night saying 'errr, there are huge signs all around South Perth, saying the roads will be closed on Sunday between 5.30 and 11.30am' - Oh, that will be a HUGE whoops - Rusty's mysterious trip would have taken everyone right through the middle of that lot.  So with no more ado he and Maree took Friday off to rerun that part of the trip with new notes and 'treasures to find'.  Top job to you both.

Thanks for a great day everyone, I really enjoyed it.  As soon as we successfully get the GQ over the pits we will be ready for a good run - probably not in time for next weekend's outing as we are hoping to put it in to get the exhaust done - Vito did a great job on the powerlines trip and it's hanging by a thread!

What Saab?  A terrible variation of "What's up?"  And next time I'll make Beth read EVERYTHING as we completely missed the word clues! 

Note to self - seat belt tan in a convertible is not a good look!

Another great day out with friends from the club.


Many thanks to Rusty and Maree for coming up with the idea and taking on the organisation of this event for the second year. I'm sure that it'll be on our Trip Calendar next year too.

Team Halo's, made up of Mr and Mrs Beachbums, daughter Amanda and granddaughters Harmony and Zequoia, had a terrific day out! Considering we got lost on the way to the start line. Our gps had us on the wrong side of the railway tracks.  As we putted around looking for a way to get to the meeting point we found Team Chromie ( more southerners ) wandering around too. Were the Northies trying to scuttle us before we got there? Must have been because Mr and Mrs ET didn't find the start line at all and are probably still driving around the metro area looking for the WPC gathering! Hopefully they'll drive past the meeting hall on Wednseday night and we'll be able to point them back towards the south!

After getting our instructions from the Rusty crew we were off for a circuit of Perth and surrounds on the hunt for answers to the quiz. We had a couple of backtracks "just to make sure" and a nice half hour leg stretch at Lake Monger where the kids could get out of the car for a bit and run off some energy buildup.
The kids were definitely an assett on this trip. They really enjoyed looking for clues and having more eyes looking was a great help. They loved the 'Make a Christmas Decoration" part and the activities sheet kept us all with our thinking caps on.

Finally arriving at the finish point in the early arvo we grabbed a bite of lunch and joined in on the games. Loads of fun popping ballons and riding the noodle ( although my attempt to scuttle the other team cost us some time! The paper plane comp was lots of fun and both the girls made one even though we could only enter one in the flyoff. Brilliant.


The girls were stoked when Rusty read out the placings and found that we'd managed to find the most clues and got to take the Trophy home.

(ummm................... Rusty mate..............it's starting to look funny with last years being won by the Trip Co-ordinator, Wozza and us winning this year you're going to have to be more subtle!)  lol

Zequoia sneaked it out the door to put on her shelf "for a little while" and to take in to school for a news item next week. Harmony has lined up for it too with a "let's have it for a week each idea. Hopefully it'll make it's way home to the Beachshack soon and it'll have pride of place on our mantlepiece.
