A typical bit of Monday morning traffic behind us as we peeled off the Freeway and yet another Monday Meander was officially underway.
Seeing as we couldn't sucker any GQ's into coming along to be sacrificed to the 4WD Gods Beachy had a flash of inspiration and invited a Tojo driver. James turned out to be a top young fella and while he must have felt like a lost explorer with the Buzzards circling he was a perfect fit in with the group. So it was 4 vehicles out of Baldivis for Dwellingup, Rob would drive the Beachbums Mobile most of the day with Beachy as Nav, Budds up solo as was I and Brisey in the Nissan Wrangler... nice winch Brisey altho if you keep using it as much as you do it will be worn out by Xmas.
Where's James and the Tojo you ask ? Well, Beachy assured us he would be meeting us at the Dwellingup Train Station Car Park so no drama's it is off up the scarp next stop Dwelly for provisions and a Council of War. As we roll into Dwelly Beachy says he was just on the phone to James and he's at the Station waiting so we formed echelon left to do a hi speed flypast and impress the beejesus outa James but... no Tojo to be seen... Hmmmm, thats odd we think so off we go to buy some grub and back to the Train Station, still no James, so Beachy's back on the Mobile and it doesn't take long to figure out that Pinjarra and Dwellingup both have Stations and we are at one and James is at the other. Beachy was adamant that he only balls's up Calendars not Meeting Places but we let it ride, came up with a plan for the day and soon enough James was with us.
I can't give too much detail of the next coupla hours as it involves reccy's for future events but we wandered around the bush between Dwelly and Boddington be veeery careful not to stray into any no go areas, DRA's and mining leases.
We found a nice enough spot for some lunch however all attempts to get down and dirty after Lunch were thwarted by Road Closures but we did end up over Bannister way and not long after that managed to stumble across a terrific spot for an Event or Two being worked up by Beachy and Brisey so you aren't going to find out about that either.
I can tell you that at various times during the day there was a heap of good natured insults, bucket loads of pic's, a Winching demo by Brisey (good of you to deliberately get stuck like that Brisey) some fishing (Beachy sucks at Fishing almost as much as Calendars) I got my first taste of airlockers, Budds did more than a few hours as intrepid Leader getting shafted by Road Closures and James flatly refused to fall prey to the circling Buzzards and require a recovery.
All in all a terrific day out with just under 300K's covered by the time we called the game on account of bad light amid a spectacular lightning show as we descended the scarp into Mundijong.
Thanks for organising the Day Beachy, can't wait for the next one...
Amongst the brambles and rusted Iron there is always a "Pretty" somewhere...
Hmmm, an interpretive walk or lunch, decisions, decisions,
bugger it, reading the sign is tiring enough
Bring it on Train... I'll teach ya to make sleepers out of my Dad
No matter how old ya get, it is still fun to play in the Sand
