Beachy and Brisey's Monday Meander 26-7-10
« on: 26 July, 2010, 08:41:08 PM »
A sterling effort by Beachy and Brisey despite the lack of recent precipitation they manged to find us some mud.

A huge turn out for a Monday hopefully I have the attendance correct, Beachy, Brisey, ET, RobsGQ, BigCol, Almost Dun, Dusty Boy, Yachty and PatrolGUIV.2

9 cars met up at the caltex with yours truly rocking in last which was quietly noted and brought up later when someone asked who was going to do the trip report. Anyway we got off on time and headed to Pinjarra with some people fueling their steeds and others their bellies when we got there. Shaun (GUIV.2) and Hayley met us there and once all bellies were full we eventually left the pie shop (only slightly delayed by someone deciding discretion was the better of valour and it would pay to make a pit stop before we left :-[)

Off we headed to Napier Rd and aired down ready for the fun to commence. ET was sent to scout the first hill off Pinjarra Williams Rd and recommended we all have a crack. Great fun was had by all with only some minor embarressment for one chap who did a bit a tree surgery and yours truly who had to have couple of goes to get up one particular section.

We took a quick look at oneshot hill but Napier had provided enough fun for all. From there we went to a play area which provided a snatch and winch training session can't remember who (It was a white one)  but they let the GU side down badly by being pulled out of the same bog twice by the same GQ.

From there it was uphill and down dale to Scarp pool for lunch. After lunch we headed along some interesting fence lines tracks where the trip leader position changed hands frequently including at one particular spot now known as Bazz's "Bog Hole" where muggin's provided all the opportunity for some hands on recovery training.

We continued to meander around the country side past some beautiful spots unless it got past 4.00PM and the smell of a beer became overpowering. Beachy led us back down the scarp via an interesting zig zag and then a very gnarly hill before coming out at the first hill we climbed in the morning after we all slid to the bottom it was time to air up and head to the pub for the debrief. A great day enjoyed by all thanks to Beachy and Brisey for a great day out.

I think it was Yachty with the camera so hopefully he oblige us all with some photos later

Cheers

Big Baz

on ya BigBaz
one sticking point for me ------
"Great fun was had by all with only some minor embarressment for one chap who did a bit a tree surgery"

no embarrassment on my part, I swear, I was sitting there 3/4 of the way up thinking about all that slippery mud when B A M and that tree leaped out and head butted me....
honestly, cant trust these trees anymore

true dinks folks, true dinks

I had a ball, Cameron fairly enjoyed himself as well......
well done Beachy & Brisey and all who were there...
thanks for a great trip

BTW
what colour road is Shyte Street on your colour coded maps guys?
Im fairly stuck in the middle of that street - with SWMBO

oh well, you get that
looking forward to seeing the pic's

cheers

DID YOU KNOW......Great Northern Highway links Western Australia's capital city Perth with its northernmost port, Wyndham. With a length of almost 3,200 kilometres (2,000 mi), it is the longest highway in Australia

Hey Col,

Your right you've got to watch out for those trees their dumber than the kangaroos up that way. one of the mongrel things got me up on a trip in that area in summer I think it was Tonkas "bag me out trip". Fortunately I didn't need to do any panel beating but I didn't see it jump either.

Hang in there mate we all reckon that bar looks great now and we'll see you out there again soon.

thanks for a great morning out, would've preferred to stick around and have more fun, but had to go. As we came over the dawesville bridge we heard over the 2way saying this track's blocked by a tree! wondering if it was you guys still trying to find your way back from wherever you ended up?
sound like the rest of the day went well, hope to get back out there again soon.
Shaun, Hayley & Caitlyn.

... and what's with the Pigs... first off we get adopted by a pair of Pig Dogs and then the Piggers turn up and want 'em back... then we find out the Pet Pig at Napier has done a runner and the owners are out searching.
Unfortunately they asked Dustyboy who thought when the Farmer said "you know, the Pig on your website" meant Ash not the Farmers Pig who comes out to help air up at Napier....Would have loved to have heard that conversation... ;D

Jeez I'd like to own a couple of acres on those properties along the fenceline or maybe the "hidden valley" property we circumvented at the end of the day. Absolutely fantastic
...

If it's Tourist Season why is it illegal to shoot 'em?.

Hey all,
Yes it was me who let the GU side down, I reckon it was 2 and a half recoveries as I got myself out of the last one. Anyway I did get some pics but they are a bit crap. I am at work now so will be two weeks until I get to put them up. I am not too sure who else took pics but I am sure there are a few of me, hopefully some actually of me going somewhere, but I am sure there are a few of me pulling a GQ into a hole.
Thanks to all that led and organized some water for us

Some pics from the Evil One... anyone wanting photo evidence of GQ Vultures feeding on the carcass of hapless GU's will need to look elsewhere.

Napier Hill... the object is to get from down there... to up here

Some do it easy

Some do it with style

Some do it laughing all the way

Some get there but need a bit of a Mod to keep going

Some get there only to find the Hill isn't the only challenge "Goddam Wombats"

...and some who got there just wait till later to find that "Mud Wallow Built For One"

...

If it's Tourist Season why is it illegal to shoot 'em?.

Top shots guys thanks for posting them. Gees doesn't that hill look good from the top no wonder the thought of driving down it was scarier than the thought of driving up and I wonder who is the goose in the mud wallow I guess no poor decision making processes go un publicised ;D

I love Napier the way it is like a Roller Coaster and just disappears over the lip

Indeed, Ya wouldna thought a puddle that short could be that deep eh Baz...  :D :D :D

Notice I never name the guilty in my pic's now unless it is Beachy or PMC, oops I mean Slithers ... they deserve it...

Haha!!! This too (below) can happen to you going down that hill and not seeing the nice drop off and then having your mate in the passenger seat laugh his head off in ya ear the rest of the way down the hill and then to top it off have the passenger door make a nice creaking noise when opening it. All good fun though.  :D :D

Yep ET it was a little deeper than it looked, where I am in the photo was at the back of it in the shallow end when Beachy was trying to get me to self extract, it was only when I opened the door after he pulled me out of the mud that I was very grateful I couldn't open it in the puddle as the water and mud had actually crept under the seal but fortunately didn't get all the way in. (Thankgod I couldn't open the door to hook up the strap I was very glad of that and very thankful to I think it was beachy for hooking it on for me)

Lesson to every one If the little voices in your head are saying "hook the snatch strap on before you dive in the mud" you really should listen to them. ::)

Thanks to everybody that came along for a fun day out. 10 cars out on a Monday isn't too shabby.

We had a few laughs along the way, did a bit of impromptu trip leader training, ditto on the recovery training,  :D saw some pretty good scenery and just generally enjoyed a day in the scrub.

I only got a couple of pics at the start but here they are....

Pies at Pinjarra, always the BEST way to kick off a midweeker.

Dropping a bit of air out of the tyres at the satrt of the day

Wriggling off up the first hill

Demo of how to use a snatch strap (thanks Yachty for pulling out that GQ  ;)  )

All good fun and looking forward to another trip soon

Cheers, Wayne
