Hey Guys, true to form, tardy arrival.. (my co-driver is allergic to early mornings

).. in keeping with that, my posting of the trip report is a little sluggish too.. Being a newbie myself, I apologise in advance to anyone I haven’t mentioned by name, please feel free to PM me and I will add you in.

Well.. What a great turn-out.. There were some early birds at the Miami Bakehouse for breakfast with the remainder of group pulling in “before” the 8.30am briefing. Pop_eye dropped in to meet us all at the bakehouse and then he showed us just what he is made of, resisting the urge to find out just how bad his clutch really was. Next time Pop_eye, terrific effort.
With the formalities done, I am sure we projected an awesome sight, with 15 Patrols in convoy, down to White Hill Road. We aired down to 15 psi before taking the cutting onto the beach, some of us for the first time. The sand was pretty soft going in some sections of the journey, creating a few artful sideways manoeuvres by the WPC members as the Patrols danced around in the sand.. Budds managed to dance in one spot for some time, with many curious tailgaters left wondering…

A pit stop at Preston beach for the kids and those who's morning coffee had caught up with them and we were joined by another new forum member.
Jumping back onto the beach, we travelled further south, until Tosh found the perfect spot to stop for lunch and we all set about erecting a shade of some sort. I had somehow managed to situate myself in the middle of the group and popped up our new shade… but now when I look back at the pictures, it looks a little like the Taj Mahal.
Fabulous weather and plenty of time for the kids (young & old) to grab a bite to eat, mingle and enjoy the beautiful sun, sand, surf.
Doc Evil, Bloggsy, Rustynails and SpookyPatrol, all seeking a little more adventure, headed further down the beach to Myalup, while Tosh & the boys tried out his new toy.. a Sand Anchor.. Plumber was eager to test out his new winch and demonstrate his ability to get himself bogged. So, adhering to the unwritten law for all REAL men, the sand anchor was demonstrated without reading the instruction manual. Let's just say that the instruction manual came out during the post demo discussion.. Hehehehe. With the final conclusion, the sand anchor is a useful tool, an awesome plough… and with the pin in the correct setting, probably a good winch companion.
After the demo we packed up and headed towards home. I wasn’t nervous when I handed the wheel over to Nikki

, that is, until I saw the astonished look from Budds... it was her first run on the beach. She did really well for her first run, we arrived safely and un-aided at Preston Beach, Phew!! (a little dig in the ribs from Nikki for doubting her ability, she said she’s seen plenty of people drive on the beach before, how hard can it be?) She knocked back the chance to drive the rest of the way.. said she preferred seeing my permanent grin when I am driving off road. We farewelled some more members here, then back on the beach, up to where the trek first started. We all aired up and headed home on the black stuff.
A great day had by all, relaxed & focused on getting to know the new members..
I am sure I speak for all, when I say thanks Tosh for leading a great trip.
Cheers,
Craig & Nikki
