Well, it was a earlier start than normal and I was sure the stragglers were way behind me. But the lure of a cooked breakie at 2 bucks each was enough to get everyone out of bed early and poor old FOS was left with the trip report. We gotta do that cook breakie more often, I will sleep out at the meeting point next time.
There was a lot of chatter, hand shaking and interaction between the members and newbies while Mike cooked sausages/ bacon/eggs for the hungry mob and Tanika and Brody ran around selling raffle tickets. Final count 8 Members & 8 Visitors.
With a full belly, we kicked off from Toodyay about 10.00 am heading west... or was it north? 10 kms down the black stuff, we turn right.... or was it left...... Mike was already demographically challenged not knowing where to turn off (even though he and bigCol had done a reccy out there a week ago)
Once off road, we zigged and zagged, did several U turns, found a bog hole so Mike could show the newbies what a V8 Nissan Patrol could do, snatched a newbie outta the bog, drooled over hill climbs that would be a treat after a couple of inches of rain, a couple of more U turns and eventually found our way back to the black stuff about 4.00pm.
Conclusion: This was a ripper of a day and the cooked breakie was a winner .
