ROBGQ's DWELLY EXPLORER (Partial Trip Report)
« on: 20 August, 2011, 09:21:47 PM »
Not one to question the longstanding customs of the club - I was last to arrive (and should also apologise to the group for being 10 minutes late) - so I earn the right to post a trip report. However, as I was only a "day-tripper" I can only report on half of the activities.

It was certainly a sight to behold at 1010am - Patrol's lined up, double file, in the carpark opposite the Waroona Bakery. What a thrill it was to see the double file line - someone will surely correct me - but we were close to 20 cars! I am told this is not a record for a club event, although a record will likely be set for the number of overnight participants.

That said, we can only measure this record in the morning - as I was driving out of Dwellingup I ran into a rain shower, one of those ones with the really big rain drops, the swag penetrating ones. We shall see how many survive the night! Actually I am envious that I was not able to stay - will be some great camp fire discussion ongoing as I type.

The day started inauspiciously, a number of cries were heard "where's the mud?", "everything looks completely dry", and "when do we get to use 4L, or even 4H?". To which there was a fairly standard response - "well it was wet last week.....".

It was not long before we bogged the first victim, soon followed by a brave second victim - who was sure the bog hole was not too difficult...Despite the previous two - we then lost a former club office holder into the same hole. [Note to self - 2 of those recoveries were mine - 2 beers]. Then again - why do we do these trips - if not to test what could be possible.

Lunch was offered to the hungry ones, and a mud-pit for the others. Plenty of fun for all. Before too long the whole group was in the pit to watch an acrobatic performance by a car better known for his colour - or absolute lack thereof. What elegance, gently sliding down a river bank, water as high as the petrol cap, yet the front left wheel well and truly in the air. I am still ruminating on the potential rollover angles of a Patrol [note to self - another beer].

Sadly I had to farewell the happy campers at this point - I can only imagine the fun they will have tonight and tomorrow.

Photo's will appear in a Club Magazine for all to view - for now I simply leave you with this one to contemplate.

Great Partial Trip report Grover.

I don't know if anyone snapped a shot of the broken MaxTrax (pardon the pun) ::)
Just for the record I will be claiming a beer for the first recovery of the day, I think there were a couple of pieces my of recovery gear that I didn't actually have to clean.

Cheers,
