Daytrip 27/05/12 Dwellingup Wander
« on: 27 May, 2012, 09:24:42 PM »
The day started off meeting all at pinjarra bakery for a briefing and a quick chat. being the newbie i was running fashionably late hence why im writing the trip report for the trip.

we then headed off in convoy to the Lane poole reserve. we then carried on down the gravels roads to find some fun/mischief. as hard as we looked and drove around we couldn't find any mud or some serious off road action. after driving around like a bunch of lost souls for a few hours we found a hill with some big ruts making it a little difficult to climb.

being the newbie i didn't seem to have much luck at all. first i was late then driving down some corrugated roads i seemed to loose power/throttle. having a really soft throttle with no response until it was almost on the floor lead me to believe it was something to do with cable. so we all pulled over to find the cable had jumped out of the tensioner. after thinking all the dramas were over and i was going to get home safely i started getting electrical issues. when i braked my gauges would bounce all over the place and i had very dull headlights. thinking it was a bad earth i carried on home hoping i could rectify the problem there to find out 5 mins down the freeway the truck shut off without warning. i had absolutely no power. realizing i had a dead alternator and now dark i had one option and one option only, get the thing towed home.

other than all the dramas to the newbie (myself) the day was a great day out. we got to see some nice scenery and have a laugh.

We had a total of 11 Trolls along for the day.
The route we took had us leaving Pinjarra around 0900 and headed out to Dwellingup and then on to Nanga Rd an into Lane Poole Reserve. After a sedate drive through to Nanga Mill we headed off down the North Junction Form Rd which was pretty tame with only a couple of semi difficult areas.

We then looped back around to Nanga Rd and back to Nanga Mill for an early Lunch. After lunch we headed to Driver Rd with Badger leading to show us where we went looking for some mud.....NO we didnt find any and so we came back on to Driver Rd and headed up the Murray River Fire Line to Bobs Crossing where we drove across to the little hill clime just over the causeway.

We took it in turns to drive up and then down this little section before calling it a day at about 1600. When we aired up and headed home. A small group stayed back for a while after the trip ended to try out some other area's.

I Hope everyone had a good day out. Once again thanks to all the peoples that came along making it a fairly large convoy.

We only had one turn around when I showed that I was Beachy trained and I zigged when I should have zagged. It was very inconsiderate of someone to put a river in my way. So we alle executed a formation three point turn and resumed our progress.

Well also being a newbie, I arrived early (so I didnt have to do the trip report) met  the members I never met at the meeting and had a great day driving around all the dirt tracks, finally the rutted road, second up after a couple of goes as I slipped of the left side bit managed to back out and straight up no worries, only problem was the cb decided not to transmit so after a bit of time trying to call the next car up we headed back down to find a few of the guys walking up to find out what happened to us as they could not receive either of us!  After that everyone had a go and managed ok, besides a couple of  small incidents I think we all had a ball, I know I did and I will be back again for sure.
