Swag Run to Broke Inlet and Surrounds - 15-18 Feb 2013
« on: 18 February, 2013, 10:22:28 AM »
Somehow Beachy seemed to work out that I was last to arrive and hence I get stung with the Trip Report.
I hear that he commited to giving something to Bloggsy for the Mag so will need to talk to him when he gets back about that and the Friday and Monday trip notes before I post something up but thought I would start it rolling here anyway.

Short version of Sat/Sun is a great little run taking in Fish Creek, West Cliff Point and Gardner River before a run into Windy Harbour and then down the Summertime Track to Malimup Beach for a camp. Back out along the beach to Calcup and Yeagurup before going back into the forest and across Heartbreak Crossing and into Pemby where we once again split up. Ewan and Beachy are still there with some mates of Beachy's.
Various combinations of five clubbies (four GU and a Wrangler), two newbies (a U and a Q) and a couple of visitors (a GU and a Tojo) over the four days with everyone having fun.
Thanks heaps Beachy and Brisey, top trip.
Some teasers

We're back!!! Well got in yesterday arvo   :)

A big thankyou to all that came along on this one.

It can be a bit daunting to commit to hanging out for a few days with people you don't know, so a special thanks to our Newbies - Daniel, Phil and Michelle {aka Sheldon for this blokey trip}  ;D
Look forward to catching up with you on future trips.

We had a great mix of people and a hell of a lot of fun and covered a huge area over the 4 days of the trip,

Collie, Lake Muir, Walpole, Mandalay Beach, down to the mouth of the Broke Inlet, back to Fish Creek and West Cliff Head, Gardiner River to Windy Harbour through the dune track, then down the Summertime Track to Malmup Beach, along the beach crossing the Meerup River, past Calcup and over the Warren River, then out via the Yeagerup Dunes, bactracks to a crossing on the Warren River to Heartbreak Trail and on into Pemberton. A few of us stayed on checked out Lake Jasper, Twin Karri Beach, Jasper Beach, Black Point and a few places inbetween.
Most of us clocked up around 1000 to 1200 kms over the weekender so you can see there was a LOT of driving to be done.

Oh, and we won't mention  Brokeback Mountain ........................ what happens on the trip stays on the trip  :o

Cheers and thanks, Wayne and Bri

PS I forgot to acknowledge Ewans (Figjam) help in leading us up the beach from Malmup over the river crossings and out of Yeagerup. His knowledge of the area gave us all great peace of mind, Ta mate.

So, purely out of interest, does anyone who was on the trip have the trip logged and would you be cool with sharing the log files that the rest of us could load onto our Ozi and drool over?  ;D

Normally they're saved as .plt files.
Try uploading them here as an attachment..
Or maybe here is better...

Sorry guys I don't bother saving the track files. Yeah I know I should but then we wouldn't spend 2 years and 3 trips looking for the bridge out near Hoffmans Mill would we?

But next Nerd Day/Ivanna shed party I'll drag out the map book and we'll have a sticky at it.

Cheers, Wayne

Just like to thank all who went on trip for making us welcome, and to brisey and beachbum for their confident leadership.
We had a great time, saw a heap of country in a short time and gave the old Q a workout. Looking forward to joining up and more trips away.Sheldon says hopes she didnt cramp the boys style ,[ Brokeback].  Thanks again Phill and Shell

Not at all she added some culture & decorum to the trip.

Has she forgiven you yet?

Cheers

Well that was a great trip good to see so many new faces. I had a ball pity I had to cut it short though. The tracks were great & as mentioned before we covered a lot of ground & suprisingly not to many turn arounds - we must be slipping Wayne. Thanks to all who came & sorry to all who didn't come you missed an awsome trip.

Cheers

If you upload them to the Ozi folder in dropbox, I can link them in if you like.

Thats odd... are you sure it was the file type or was it the size (there is a 512k size limit)
...

If it's Tourist Season why is it illegal to shoot 'em?.

The problem was a file extension restriction for attachments, I have added them (.gpx and .plt) to the allowed attachment types, so can someone (without God status) please try and attach one and let me know if it works.

Cheers
Craig

EDIT:   ET is also correct about the file size restriction 512K, so if the file is larger than that, then I reckon we still need to upload it to the dropbox account and link to it, otherwise we could very quickly start to encroach on our server limit.
