If I tag along it will be only as far as Georgia Bore (depending on itinerary).

Have a previous engagement at the Cray Pot on 23rd June to watch the mighty Blues kick the poo poo outa the Toads in Origin II.

...

If it's Tourist Season why is it illegal to shoot 'em?.

I was looking at http://canningstockroute.net.au/ where they say..
"The section between Well 25 and Well 26 remains closed.  It remains underwater. We recommend using the detour through Karlamilyi National Park (Well 23 (GJ Bore) through Karlamilyi National Park, through to Kunawarritji Well 33."
I was just having a look. That's a major detour!
I know it's a long way from now, but hopefully we don't encounter that type of problem  :o
That must be seriously affecting guys out there now!

Yeah, thats what I was sayin' last night... it's been closed for a while.
A very late wet or unseasonal rain can be a bitch up the top 1/2.

On the upside there is fuel at both ends of that detour... $3.40 a litre (less for cash)  ;)
... and there are some very nice spots on the detour thru the NP.
... but, has one technically "done the Canning" if one misses 10 odd Wells  >:D

Hi All,

We had a bit of discussion tonight and have decided to move this trip into the month of July instead of June.

Mr E.T. not sure if this is any better for you or changes things at all.

Quite a good discussion and south to north is the consensus with approx 18 days on the canning getting to Wiluna via Paynes Find and Sandstone.

More to come

I spent a week in Paynes Find one night (no, that is exactly what I meant)  ;D

Anyway, there goes most of my excuses out the window so yes, better for me BUT please organise around the definites and I'll fit in if I can...

At our last meeting reference was made to a set of distances & times put out by ExplorOz for their trip down the CSR.
I have accumulated/summarised these and used them as a basis for a suggested daily itinerary.
This is just the CSR portion.. not getting to Wiluna or getting back from Halls Creek.
I've attached this as a pdf.
It's a good starting point for review and comment... :)

Nicely done, cobber.

FWIW I am still digesting it but my early opinion is maybe a tad too long on the CSR.

A day at Durba is good.

The savannah/desert legs (2,4,5, 10) might be a tad short (the terrain can be sama sama and the camps a tad uninspiring)... but... it is mid winter so short daylight hours I guess.
Maybe combine Day 2 & 3 (Windich to 12) and/or Day 4 & 5 (12 to Durba) for example

Pick up a day or two and add a stopover day at Georgia Bore for a look at  Rudall River/Karlamilyi NP... or eslewhere on the way back... or... Purnululu (only 200K's from Halls Ck)  ?

Just thinkin' out loud really ATM...

Yeah.. I was trying to take as long as we need to see it all, camp at the best spots with the best water, and have time to chill at some campsites.. get in early.. get a fire going.. have a chat and a few beers before the sun goes down.. maybe have a look over the rigs.. fix stuff if required.. do the sidetracks where they exist..

A day at Durba is good.
Yeah.. it looked like a nice place to just rest.
By comparison to everything else its almost like a caravan park with it's shade and trees.. it's almost possible to imagine online bookings for powered sites ;)

I think you're right.
The temptation to stop at both Pierre Spring (Well 6) on day 2 and Windich on day 3 was too much :)
Well 6, apparantly, has been well restored, has good water and a good campsite.

Pick up a day or two and add a stopover day at Georgia Bore for a look at  Rudall River/Karlamilyi NP...
Yep..I think that will be worth while making space for.

or... Purnululu (only 200K's from Halls Ck)  ?
I was ther a few weeks back.. Definitely worth going to.
But I think the current plan is to head west from Halls Creek and incorporate a night or two at 80 Mile Beach where we will be taking up an offer made to Doc by an aboriginal leader (?) in the area.

Just thinkin' out loud really ATM...
That's what's needed. Thanks :)

New suggested itinerary taking into account some of ET's comments.
I've also included the condition of each well (from what I can establish.. open for correction), as well as whether camping is possible at each well (from what I can establish.. open for correction).

For those who haven't seen this gu'ys documentary of his trip on the CSR (North to South), this series of videos is very well put together.

Itinerary update.
I've added the condition of water at each well (from what I can establish.. open for correction), as well as emergency exits.

Thank you :)
To begin of Aug would be fine.. but hey.. we'll probably only get it back to them at the Aug GM ;)
Talking to Jan at the show she was saying $50 deposit plus $10. But she had no idea how long the $10 was for.. per day.. per week.. until it comes back..  ::) ;D
