2021 Club Trip Reports / WILBINGA BEACH RUN - Sunday 5th December 2021
« Last post by SteveNDee on 06 December, 2021, 10:57:17 AM »
We’ll what started out as a normal morning, getting the GQ packed, wrangling the kids and dogs and then bribing them to get in the car….of we went! Had to make a quick stop in Bunnings, and then we were on the road…….and that was shortly lived….the GQ decided it didn’t want to play today, and so we made a on the fly decision to head home, and swap cards over to the MUX.

So after unpacking the GQ and packing up and loading everyone back into the MUX, we were on the road again!!

We arrived at the Ampol Wanneroo and met up with Dman, Ropes, Nick, Kylie & Nev, Richard, Grady, the Briggs’s and the Kinang’s. After everyone signed in with the QR code (thank you!) we headed off to Wilbinga Grove Road where we aired down with about 20 other people (popular spot).

The beach was calling, so off we headed. Through the tracks weaving in and out. We saw a Toyota Landcruiser a bit stuck on a dune, but he had heaps of help, so we kept going.

We stopped at our first dune play for the morning. Up and down, up and down. Everyone was having some fun, until Husband decided to take it one step further and get the MUX stuck on a sand ridge. At least we know that the new suspension has good flex.  After a quick winch from Dman, the MUX was free and Husband took off onto the beach to meet the others. Thats ok, Ill catch a lift with Dman!

With everyone on the beach, we decided to find a place to pull up and have a swim, stretch the legs and have some lunch.  It wasn’t long before the dogs were out and the kids were in the water!

After smelling the lovely aroma coming from Ropes car (note to self, get Ropes to pack more pies for everyone!) we ate and chatted and ate some more. It was great to catch up with new members and friends.

Lunch was had, we packed up and headed off towards the way out.  We said goodbye to the Briggs’s who had to get to the birthday party, and off we went.

More tracks, more dune plays (this is where we said goodbye to Grady, who was off to meet his friends) and more tracks, and more dunes (this is where we found some very steep tracks going up the dunes and Husband was told no.), before finally we were parked up and airing up just on Breakwater Drive.

With everyone now having nice aired up tyres, we said our farewells and headed off home.

Thanks to everyone how came along. It was great to see some old and new faces on a trip!

Fingers crossed the GQ will be back on the road for the next Wilbinga Run and then Husband can tackle all the bloody sand dunes he wants!  ;D

2021 Club Trip Reports / 2021 MEET & GREET - 21st November 2021

WHAT A DAY!! A huge turn out of both Members and Guests. 18 4WD’s in total, lots of adults, lots of kids and 3 puppies.

We started out by all meeting at Ampol Southbound, where coffees were bought and bakery goods were had. Everyone introduced themselves and had a chat. Our Trip Leader, Mr Ropes, started off the trip by running through all the important stuff, before we headed off towards Myalup.

We hit Myalup beach road and followed that all the way down to the end where we all pulled into the Carpark and proceeded to air down. After we fought the mass of flies, we head off down the beach.

Looking out into the ocean, it was calm, blue and the perfect day for a beach bbq.

A little while into the drive, we pulled up in a line and everyone got out for a swim and chat. The kids were doing Baywatch runs up and down the beach, the dogs were loving chasing the flies and running up and down the beach.

It was such a perfect spot, we where by ourselves, and everyone was having such a great time, we decided to put up the gazebos, set up the BBQ’s and have lunch on the beach. After a little wee sprinkle of rain, nothing could damper this great day.

We packed up and headed to Preston, where half of the group aired up and headed home. It was great to meet everyone and we hope to see them in a couple of weeks at the next time.

The rest of us, took off towards Whitehills. We pulled off before Whitehills road and let the kids have a stretch and puppie have a run.

Before heading down Whitehills road and airing up. Saying our farewells and everyone heading off home.

A huge day, but thats for everyone who came along and made it a great day!

Well done by all, the passion for our club was well and truly on display and the WPC approach to the show was raised as a great example of how to do it at Monday's WA4WDA meeting.
